According to several online sources, Valerie Jarrett is apparently on the short-list to be nominated to be Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (). Ms. Jarrett is a close friend of President-elect Obama and his wife Michelle. She is a member of the transition team. She has often been described as the “other side of Obama’s brain”.

Ms. Jarrett currently serves as the CEO of the The Habitat Company, a real estate development and management firm. The Habitat Company is one of the largest private residential property mangers in Chicago and the Midwest.

The only other name mentioned is Rep. Jesse Jackson, Jr.  Both Ms. Jarrett and Mr Jackson have been mentioned as a  replacement to fill the unfinished term of Senator Obama.
