report details homeless epidemic

NPR’s All Things Considered had another “driveway moment” with a report on the dramatic growth in two parent homeless families. The report discusses two parent families in LA’s skid row. Many if not most of these families have become homeless after exhausting all of their resources in the economic meltdown. One of the highlighted families had been employed by a luxury hotel and now volunteers in a similar capacity at the shelter.

According to All Things Considered “Andy Bale, the director of Skid Row’s Union Mission in Los Angeles, has never seen this before: In just the last few weeks, he has admitted a half-dozen two-parent families, many of who have lost their homes to foreclosure. Bale says the face of Skid Row’s homeless is changing quickly.”
