Fundraising opportunity to help end homelessness
Watch the movie trailer
On Friday, December 12, Where God Left His Shoes, a new movie about homelessness, will premier in New York City and Los Angeles. Winner of the Humanitas Prize for Best Sundance Feature Film, Where God Left His Shoes profiles the story of Frank (John Leguizamo), Angela (Leonor Varela), and their two children as they cope with finding themselves homeless. The film’s release creates a rare opportunity to spur public awareness of the issues homeless individuals and families face and the barriers to housing that they must overcome during what will be a difficult holiday season for an increasing number of families in America. The film opens Friday, December 12 and will be available in over 50 million homes across the country through video-on-demand starting December 10. Where God Left His Shoes has already been utilized in fundraising events by advocates and service providers across the country; some events have generated up to $650,000 in donations. Right now, “community premieres” are being organized in Los Angeles, Boston, Boise, ID, Columbia, SC, and Seattle. Why can’t we have a “community premiere” in NJ?
The filmmakers and the Advocacy Network encourage you to order the movie using video-on-demand and use it in your efforts to end homelessness in your community.
