Third round COAH plans are accessible
$218 million trust fund balances are also online
The Council on Affordable Housing (COAH) has published on its web site updates that include an Excel file that has links to the Third Round plans of municipalities. In addition, the site has a list of the municipalities eligible to collect fees for their Trust Funds, the current balances and the uses of these funds.
To view the page with all of these reports click here.
Of special benefit might be these reports:
Municipal Participation in the Third Round as of January 2, 2009, which includes links to online documents including plans. To view the housing plans click on the Yes in the “other electronic documents column.”
Municipal Affordable Housing Trust Fund Balances as of December 16, 2008, details the expenses by municipality and usage and balance of funds available.
Statewide Trust Fund Activity which provides information on where the unspent $218,367,262.05 in housing trust fund monies are located.
Towns Authorized to Retain Non-residential Development Fees provides a simple overview of which municipalities are included.
The COAH reports page is updated frequently and is worth bookmaking.
The $281 million in unspent trust fund dollars remains a concern. In the difficult times in which we live, this large balance seems inappropriate. Utilized effectively these dollars could not only address the affordable housing crisis but also help end homelessness in New Jersey.
