On April 22, 2009, nineteen (19) formerly homeless people, passionate advocates and housing providers spent the day in our nation’s capital. One of the requests made of each member of Congress was to join the Advocacy Network to End Homelessness on July 28, 2009, for the 3rd Annual Congressional Reception. Now that is on their calendar register today so it will be on your calendar!

The overall goal of the day was to advocate for policies that would Help Strengthen Our Communities including the following four initiatives:

  1. Maintain Rental Assistance Vouchers for very low income workers and people on fixed incomes;
  2. Strengthen our economy by producing an adequate supply of both workforce and supportive housing;
  3. Create a real program to end homelessness; and
  4. Fully fund HUD housing programs.
