NPR’s Tell Me More broadcasted a report entitled More Families Find Themselves Homeless Amid Economy on April 27, 2009. The report focused on “Families are the nation’s fastest growing segment of the homeless population, according to the National Coalition for the Homeless. And with the economic crisis, particularly the rising rate of foreclosures and unemployment, it’s a trend that might continue. aired and Edwin Greene, a married couple with children, live in a Virginia homeless shelter. They explain the difficulty of raising a family in a shelter and their plans to get back on their feet.”

The New York Times published an article entitled Homeless Soccer Team Roots for New Life on May 2, 2009. The article by Julie Bosman desires “The idea behind homeless soccer is something like this: Take a group of poor people, disconnected from the regular rhythms of life, lacking both physical exercise and much to look forward to. Add soccer.”
