May 20th Prevention and Diversion
May 27th Rapid Re-housing

The New Jersey Advocacy Network to End Homelessness will be holding two important webinars as part of our ongoing training to state and local governments and agencies implementing different phases of the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-housing Program (HPRP). This is an continuation of our Learning Circle session in March 2009.

The webinars are only for New Jersey based groups and registration is limited to one hundred (100) participants. Registration is required. To register click here.

Links to the webinar will be provided to all registered participants prior to the event.

On May 20, 2009, at 10 AM, the webinar will focus on Prevention and Diversion. Among the questions to be addressed during the webinar will be: What is homelessness prevention? What is homelessness diversion? How can they be used  to transform the homeless delivery systems? What are the best practice models for homelessness prevention and diversion?

The presenter for this webinar will be Sharon McDonald. She is a Senior Policy Analyst with a focus on policy and program strategies to address family homelessness. Ms. McDonald joined the National Alliance to End Homelessness in 2001. Prior to joining the Alliance, Sharon was a direct practitioner in a Richmond, Virginia community-based service center for people who are homeless for nearly seven years. She has experience providing service-enhanced housing in a subsidized housing development for low-income families with children.

On May 27, 2009, at 10 AM, the webinar will focus on Rapid Re-housing. Among the questions to be addressed during the webinar will be: What is Rapid Re-housing? What are the steps and strategies required to develop and effective program? How can Rapid Re-housing be used  to transform the homeless delivery systems? What are the best practice models?

The presenter will be Marge Wherley, Supervisor of Housing and Homeless Initiatives for Hennepin County, Minnesota (FHPAP). FHPAP is facilitating the end of homelessness by providing state funds, including TANF block grant dollars, that can be used innovatively by counties and community nonprofit organizations to help families remain in their homes, re-house those who become homeless and shorten the length of time families spend in shelters.

Please remember to register early for these two important webinars.

The webinars will be archived and all materials will be posted on the Advocacy Network web site after the conclusion of each webinar.
