Coming Home of Middlesex County, an initiative established to work for the elimination of homelessness in New Jersey’s second most populous county, is now accepting applications for the position of Executive Director.
Coming Home of Middlesex County’s mission is to develop and implement the “Ten Year Plan to End Homelessness” in the county, through the creation of affordable, accessible and permanent housing opportunities. Coming Home of Middlesex County is dedicated to deal with the existing problem of homelessness in the county with sensitivity and responsibility.
Announced in July, 2007, Coming Home of Middlesex County has been guided by a Steering Committee comprised of community and civic leaders, which includes:

Bishop Paul Bootkoski, Bishop of the Diocese of Metuchen

Jim Cahill, Mayor of New Brunswick

Gloria Aftanski, President & CPO, United Way of Central Jersey

Elizabeth Hance, President & CEO, Magyar Bank

Robert Mulcahy, President of Board, Coming Home of Middlesex, Inc., former President/CEO of the New Jersey Exposition Authority and Director of Athletics at Rutgers University

Freeholder Blanquita Valenti, Middlesex County Freeholder
The successful candidate for the Executive Director position should have:
-
knowledge of the 10 Year Plan to End Homelessness in Middlesex County;
-
have experience with issues related to the homeless population,
-
an understanding of the current and changing social, economic, and political environments;
-
have knowledge of housing options and financing; have knowledge of the extent of homelessness in Middlesex County;
-
have an established record of building coalitions and partnerships;
-
possess excellent organizational and communication skills; and
-
have the ability to find creative solutions to difficult issues and situations.
