Rina at the Congressional Reception presents Congressman Lance with a plaque for his support for supporting the McKinney-Vento reauthorization.
Congressman Lance, who attended the 3rd Annual Congressional Reception, is quoted in the article as someone who always does his homework and has not missed a vote this year.
He’ll provide a litany of examples of voting for laws opposed by the GOP, besides “cap and trade.” One of just 40 Republicans to vote for child health care, one of just 24 to vote for parental leave for federal employees, one of just 18 to vote for expansion of the hate crimes law to cover sexual orientation and disability, one of just three to support the “Lilly Ledbetter Law” to help victims of wage discrimination.
“I am not a Tom DeLay Republican,” he said, referring to the partisan majority leader who ruled the GOP caucus before his fall in a corruption scandal.

In his remarks at the Congressional Reception he noted that as a member of the New Jersey Legislature he had sponsored legislation that provided a dedicated funding stream for domestic violence programs.
He then stated empathically that “no one should be without a residence anywhere in the United States and especially in the Great State of New Jersey.”
He then listed every county in alphabetical order and indicated that no one should be homeless in any of these counties.
