The Keys: Fall 2009 Edition
The National Alliance to End Homelessness (NAEH), one of our national partners, has released its first quarterly newsletter for The Center for Capacity Building (the Center). The Keys: Fall 2009 Edition highlights a new tool developed by the Center, the Housing First Partnership and Accountability Matrix, to help communities determine partners and their roles based on the major outcomes of a Housing First system.
The newsletter also includes an FAQ section that features three questions that communities have been asking the Alliance recently, as well as a review of a recent webinar on rural homelessness and a special feature on Fairfax County, VA’s efforts to implement a new intake and assessment process.
The Center’s next edition of The Keys will be released in February 2010.
The Housing First Partnership and Accountability Matrix is designed to help communities identify possible partners and accountable agencies within their Housing First system based on the three main outcomes of a Housing First system: prevention of homelessness, reduction in the length of time of homelessness, and decreased recidivism.
If a community is in the planning phase of moving to a Housing First system, this tool is valuable for making sure that all of the private, public, and nonprofit partners the community may need are brought to the planning table. If a community is implementing a Housing First system, this tool can be used to help hold partners accountable to the roles they should be playing.
