2009 Report Card and State Policy
To Be Released at Annual Meeting
The New Jersey Advocacy Network to End Homelessness will be holding its second Annual Membership Meeting on January 29, 2010. This will be an opportunity to review the last year and to establish a policy and program agenda for the new year.
Among the items on the agenda will be the release of the 2009 Congressional Report Card. The Report Card will document how our two Senators and thirteen members of the House of Representatives voted on key issues related to ending homelessness in New Jersey. The ratings will be based on votes on four key issues and attendance at the 2009 Congressional Reception. The members of the delegation with the highest grades have been invited to attend the Annual Meeting.
Because homelessness represents a tremendous cost to New Jersey in lost productivity and in direct costs paid for shelter and emergency services the Advocacy Network will be releasing its state policy at the Annual Meeting. New Jersey currently manage homelessness, but we have not been focused on ending it. Ending homelessness can be accomplished, but it requires a systemic approach led by the State, which funds the lion share of the burden.
The Advocacy Network will be releasing both the Report Card and the state policy reports at the Annual Meeting and our web sites.
With the release of both of these documents there is even more reason to attend this year’s Annual Meeting and help plan the agenda for 2010! We encourage all of our members and friends to register to attend.
