Governor-elect Chris Christie announced last Friday that he intends to keep Jennifer Velez, as commissioner of the Department of Human Services. The Advocacy Network is pleased with this reappointment.

This is not only due to the fact that we prefer continuity during a period of transition, but also because she has lead the Department of Human Services with talent and skill.

In addition, she has served as the chairperson of the Interagency Council on Preventing and Reducing Homelessness. We are confident that she will work to insure that an effective, implemental plan will be developed that will prevent and end homelessness in New Jersey.

With her reappointment we look forward to working with Commissioner Velez to achieve that goal.
